The brief from EKUC was simple: make something that would get young people to register for the Pathfinder Camporee in Nairobi. The event was run by the East Kenya Union Conference youth department and the theme was "Battle Ready, Armed for the Fight."
3D animation felt right. Part of the thinking came from watching how international Pathfinder camporees in the US used proper production visuals to build anticipation, and wanting to do the same thing locally. The theme had a specific energy and the goal was to match it in the animation rather than soften it.
It was also genuinely enjoyable to make. A theme with that kind of weight gives you something real to work with creatively. Purely commercial work doesn't always offer that.
"Battle Ready, Armed for the Fight" is not a brief you interpret softly. After the 3D was built, most of the work was in animation timing: how fast elements entered the frame, where the cuts landed, how much weight each transition carried.
The youth department responded well. That early feedback matters. It showed that locally produced 3D at this level could work for event promotion, not just for clients with bigger budgets. Internally it also confirmed that the storytelling side of the pipeline was developing.
